It's a tough job, but you can do it with lots of love! Being a new parent can be overwhelming at times. There is so much to learn and parent's continuous job is to keep their children safe and happy. The Garth House Hospital Prevention Program volunteers visit new parents in the hospitals and give them information about Shaken Baby Syndrome, the risk factors of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Post Partum Depression. They also provide helpful information about picking a child care facility, coping with a crying baby and safe sleep for the baby. The books and packets given to parents detail caring for your child and for yourself after giving birth, to help ease the transition from the hospital to the home.
